| The United States has a number of overseas territories. They picked some up be warfare, buying them from other countries, etc. |

| One of them, Puerto Rico may some day become a US state, but none of the others will. Most of the ballance are small islands that the US use as bases for their military. |

| As you can see, most of them are small island the the US army have a small base on. One of them, Wake Island, had one the the biggest battle of WW2, when the small US Army (under 500) held off the complete Japanese Navy and Air Force for 3 months. |
