| by Ted Peterson |
|
| A large number of European countries have dropped their
currencies in 2002 and replaced them with the currency called "EURO". Some more new countries have or are going to vote to see if they need to join the EU.. They have talked about maybe chaning their currencies. These 13
EU countries started using euro in payments between banks and EU countries
a few years ago but now the only currency that can be used in the these
countries is the euro. |
| The countries are listed below. This list is as of 5/15/07 |

currency. |
| There are about 24 countries that had their own currency
that were backed by the European countries are now backed by the euro.
|
| 11 countries may soon join the EU and then can convert to
the euro if they wish. More when time comes on. Denmark, and Sweden that
are in the EU now are talking about changing in a few year. UK maybe going to
hold a referendum soon about changing the pound sterling to euro, but as of now have not said that they will.. |
| The following currencies cannot be used. German mark,
Franch franc, Italian lire, Holland guilder, Spain peseta, Portugal
escudo, Luxemboug franc, Ireland punt, Greece drachma, Austria schilling,
Belgium franc, and Finland markka. If you have some they have no value.
Put them in your scrap book as the time to change them is past and you
cannot change them to euro or use them any where.. |
